In the Studio

Stop the presses!  Start the tape!  Listening Library is producing an audio book of Radiant, my novel in verse, due out January 7th.  The audio book will be released the same day.  Because I drew on my childhood memories of the 1960s and the book is set in Southwestern Pennsylvania where I grew up, the folks at Listening Library thought it would be appropriate that I narrate the book myself.

Me in the Studio
Technician Dick Orr Coaching Me

I was nervous about being able to do a good job, but with the guidance and encouragement of director Anna Lyse Erikson coaching me remotely and technician Dick Orr on site at New Mexico Sound recording studio, I soon conquered my fears.  The experience of recording my own book was wonderful and unforgettable.  It was an exciting opportunity for me — to be able to share my words in a whole new way, to give Radiant a different kind of life.

Thanks to producer Brady Emerson and everyone at Listening Library, for this marvelous Christmas gift.  I hope, dear readers, you enjoy Radiant in either print or audio format (or both!) in 2025.

Radiant Vaunda Micheaux Nelson

And I look forward to introducing Radiant at my book launch at 6 p.m. on January 7th at Books on the Bosque in Albuquerque, New Mexico.

Merry Christmas.  And God Bless Us, Every One!
